MW: Crude oil lower, gold up after CPI, housing data

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude oil futures were lower and gold futures were higher on Wednesday, after separate reports showed a drop in consumer prices and in housing starts in October. Crude oil for January delivery was down 1 cent at $82.76 a barrel. Gold for December delivery rose $1.60, or 0.1%, to $1,340 an ounce.
