EXM: Jobless claims rise from last week, but still hovering near 2-year lows

The Labor department came out today with the report on last weeks new jobless claims, and they were slightly higher than the prior week. Seasonally adjusted claims rose by 2,000 to 439,000, however these numbers remain near the lows of 2008 when the financial crisis was beginning to kick into high gear.

The four week average fell as well to 443,000.

With over 8 million jobs lost since 2009, and over 5 million lost in 2010 alone, it is no surprise that new jobless claims are falling, and finding a steady level as we head towards the end of the year.

The real struggle for the unemployed will take place shortly as many of the 99ers are about to lose their extended benefits at the beginning of December.

Stock futures for Friday's trading moved higher on the news, and the dollar is falling, down .55 to 78.51.
