NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Energy stocks rose on Wednesday as political unrest continued in Libya and oil prices advanced. The NYSE Arca Oil Index (XOI 1,345, +16.90, +1.27%) rose 1% to 1,341. The NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index (XNG 656.51, +3.81, +0.58%) rose 0.4% to 655. The Philadelphia Oil Service Index (OSX 280.48, -6.08, -2.12%) rose 0.5% to 282. Cabot Oil & Gas (COG 42.67, +2.84, +7.13%) rose 7.6% to $42.88 as the biggest gainer amoung components of the S&P 500 (SPX 1,317, +1.67, +0.13%) . Denbury Resources (DNR 23.55, +0.74, +3.24%) rose 2.2%. Oil futures rose to more than $96 a barrel. |
