MSN: Rupee gains 13 paise against USD in early trade
Mumbai, Mar 21 (PTI) The Indian rupee gained 13 paise to 45.00/01 against the US dollar in morning trade today on persistent selling of dollars by banks and exporters.
In narrow movement at the Interbank Foreign Exchange, the local currency opened higher at 45.04/05 a dollar against last weekend''s close of 45.13/14 per dollar and moved up further to 45.00/01 per dollar before quoting at 45.03/04 at 1030 hours.
Meanwhile, crude prices rose in Asia in early trade today as Western forces staged air strikes to halt Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi''s attacks on civilians, analysts said.
New York''s main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in April, gained USD 1.88 to USD 102.95 per barrel, while Brent North Sea crude for May was up USD 2.14 to USD 116.07.
