LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European markets opened higher on Thursday, with the Stoxx Europe 600 index (ST:STOXX600 278.54, -0.01, -.00%) rising 0.2% to 279. France's CAC 40 index (FR:PX1 4,026, +1.18, +0.03%) climbed 0.3% to 4,036.92 and Germany's DAX 30 index (DX:DAX 7,066, +8.85, +0.13%) advanced 0.2% to 7,070.4. The U.K.'s FTSE 100 index (UK:UKX 5,963, +15.04, +0.25%) gained 0.3% to 5,968.8. Shares of clothing retailer Hennes & Mauritz AB (SE:HMB 208.20, -8.40, -3.88%) dropped 4% after it reported a decline in quarterly profit. In London, shares of home builder Taylor Wimpey PLC (UK:TW. 41.99, +0.71, +1.72%) rallied 3.3%. |
