The rupee fell by another eighteen paise to 44.63 against the dollar in opening trade today following a bearish trend in the local stock market, dealers at the Interbank Foreign Exchange said.
An oscillation was witnessed in the local unit as the domestic unit recorded an intra day high and low at 44.64 and 44.53 per US dollar, respectively.
The rupee lost ground for the second day today as the dollar gained against other world currencies, dealers said.
The rupee had ended lower by 12 paise to 44.45 against the American currency yesterday.
