The price of gold has hit another record in Asia, hitting $1,513.70 (£916.65) an ounce and it is predicted to reach $1,600 (£968.91) by the end of the year.
Welsh gold, which is expected to be used in the ring Prince William gives to Catherine Middleton this week, is even more valuable.
But Welsh goldsmiths are finding it hard to attract customers for their individually crafted products, as Brian Milligan reports.
