GZ: Gas prices hit $4 a gallon in Vail
 
Gas prices have hit the $4-a-gallon mark in at least one area of Colorado.

The average cost of a gallon of regular unleaded in Vail was exactly $4 on Monday, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

That’s the highest price in Colorado among the areas covered by the report. Statewide, the average Monday was $3.615. In Colorado Springs, it was $3.568. That’s up from $3.368 a month ago and $2.674 a year ago. The highest average price ever recorded in the Springs was $3.983, reached July 17, 2008.


Nationally, gas pump prices continued to climb for the 34th straight day, to an average Monday of more than $3.86 per gallon. The average price is now a dollar more per gallon than a year ago.

The average price tops $4 in six states and the District of Columbia.
