PAIV:Rubianna Resources identifies broad zones of elevated gold anomalism at Murchison
Rubianna Resources (ASX: RRE) has identified large zones of gold anomalies from reconnaissance drilling at the Murchison Project, giving the company confidence to plan a follow-up drill program to see whether specific targets can be developed.
A 292 hole, 10,295 metres rotary air blast and aircore drilling campaign was undertaken at Murchison, located in the Peak Hill Mining District of Western Australia.
The program highlighted a broad zone of elevated gold anomalism at the Curleys Project area and a broad zone of coincident elevated gold, copper, nickel and zinc in the North Ruby Well Project area.
Results suggest that the gold anomalism is associated with the discrete lithological unit and structures within the Narracoota Formation of the Bryah Basin.
The Narracoota Formation hosts Sandfire Resources’ (ASX: SFR) recent discovery of the DeGrussa and Conductor VMS style gold copper mineralisation.
Murchison also lies in the same region as Doray Minerals’ (ASX: DRM) high-grade Archaean lode gold resource at Andy Well.
Infill drilling at North Ruby Well identified a 3.5 kilometre long anomalous zone of gold at 592 parts per billion with elevated levels of copper, nickel and zinc.
At Curleys Project drilling identified elevated gold values are progressively concentrated towards the unit contacts and along a series of interpreted minor, north-northeast trending faults.
The company believes this volcanic sequence has the potential to have been the mineral source for the known Curleys gold mineralisation.
Rubianna plans follow-up drilling in the third quarter this year to further identify key targets.
The company has also begun geochemical soil sampling and geological mapping at the Killara Project, also within Murchison.
Killara covers 800 square kilometres and hosts a diverse range of gold and base metal mineralisation styles with seven known historical locations with base metal occurrences.
The Great Northern Highway runs through the Murchison project area and is located 30 kilometres north-northwest of Meekatharra.
