WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- A gauge of consumer sentiment rose to 74.3 in May from 69.8 in April, according to reports about the data from a Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan survey released Friday. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch had expected a final May reading of 72.5, compared with an estimate earlier in the month of 72.4.
