MW: U.S. dollar extends loss; pending home sales fall

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The U.S. dollar fell further after the government reported that pending home sales slumped 11.6% in April but consumer sentiment climbed in May. The U.S. dollar index DXY -0.58% , which measures the U.S. unit against a basket of six major currencies, fell to 75.112 in the lastest dealings. It was trading around 75.154 before the release of the latest economic data, down from 75.598 late Thursday.
