II:Iran acting oil minister in Vienna for OPEC meeting
TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iranian acting Oil Minister Mohammad Ali-Abadi arrived in Vienna on Tuesday for the 159th OPEC meeting as welcomed by officials.
Ali-Abadi left for Vienna on Tuesday to join the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) ministerial session on Wednesday.
Ali-Abadi was welcomed by OPEC Secretary General Abdalla S. El-Badri, Iranian IAEA ambassador and the country's embassy staff in Vienna upon his arrival in Vienna.
OPEC which pumps some 40 percent of the world's oil last met mid December in Equator where the member states agreed to keep production quota of 24,845,000 barrels a day unchanged.
The 12-nation group is to meet on Wednesday amid growing fears that high crude prices could further dent faltering world economic growth and energy demand.
The International Energy Agency has already called on OPEC to increase output and prevent another damaging spike in prices, with seasonal demand set to strengthen in the coming summer months in the northern hemisphere.
