WS: Dollar weakens against euro, pound; Swiss franc hits record high against euro
NEW YORK — The dollar is slipping against the euro and pound even as European leaders failed to reach an agreement on additional aid for Greece.
The euro inched up to $1.4375 from $1.4355 late Friday. The British pound rose to $1.6306 from $1.6239.
The lack of an agreement on aid for Greece did, however, is pushing the Swiss franc to a record high against the euro as investors looked for safety.
Joseph Trevisani, chief market analyst at FX Solutions, says concerns over Greece affected the Swiss franc and euro trade more than the dollar and euro trade because the problems in the U.S. are equally worrisome as those in Europe.
Elsewhere, the dollar was trading lower against the Japanese yen and Canadian dollar.
