WSJ: Dollar Rises Against Yen, Swiss Franc After US Retail Sales

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--The dollar rose against the Japanese yen and Swiss franc Tuesday after slightly better-than-expected U.S. retail sales data.
The dollar jumped to Y80.43 against the yen, compared to Y80.24 shortly before the data's release. Against the Swiss franc, the dollar rose to a fresh session high at CHF0.8415.
U.S. retail and food services sales fell by 0.2% in May from the previous month to $387.12 billion, a less steep drop than had been expected. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires had forecast a 0.6% drop.
Excluding autos, retail sales last month climbed 0.3%, versus expectations for a 0.1% gain.
