SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Crude-oil futures edged higher Wednesday, finding support on expectations that a government report will show a decline in supplies. August crude CL1Q +0.54% climbed 60 cents to $94.76 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange after tapping a low of $93.24 in electronic trading. The Energy Information Administration will issue its report on last week's energy supplies at 10:30 a.m. Eastern. The American Petroleum Institute late Tuesday had reported a modest decline of 81,000 barrels in crude supplies, though analysts surveyed by Platts expect a decline of 2 million barrels.
