MW: Natural gas futures fall on inventory rise

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Natural-gas inventories rose more than anticipated, sending prices down Thursday. The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported a natural-gas inventories rise of 95 billion cubic feet for total storage of 2,575 billion cubic feet for the week ending July 1. Analysts surveyed by Platts estimated a rise of 78 billion to 82 billion cubic feet. Natural gas for August delivery NG11Q -2.56% , the most active contract, fell nearly 11 cents, or 2.5%, to $4.11 per million British thermal unit. Before the report, natural gas had been trading around $4.23 per million Btu.
