FXstreet.com (Córdoba) - US stocks fell on Monday as fears about Europe's debt crisis spreading to larger countries such as Italy and concerns over the global economy overshadowed the start of the second-quarter earnings reporting season. The deteriorated sentiment follows disappointing nonfarm payrolls that weighed on major US stock indexes Friday.
The Dow Jones industrial average drops 142 points or 1.13% to 12,515. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index is down 19 points or 1.44% at 1,324. The Nasdaq Composite Index loses 26 points or 0.91% at 2,833.
In the FX market, the US Dollar is sharply higher against the Euro but lower against the Yen and the Franc. Crude oil fell below $95 a barrel, while gold rose above $1550 an ounce.
