BLBG:South African Stocks: Anglo Platinum, Impala, Massmart, SacOil
 
The FTSE/JSE Africa All Share Index fell for a third day, declining 327.12, or 1 percent, to 31,517.90 by 10:26 a.m. in Johannesburg.
The following are among the most active stocks in the South African market today.
Anglo American Platinum Ltd. (AMS SJ), the world’s largest producer of the metal, fell for a fourth day, dropping 8.30 rand, or 1.4 percent, to 591.99 rand as the price of the metal decreased for a third day.
Impala Platinum Holdings Ltd. (IMP) , the world’s second- largest platinum producer, fell for a seventh day, dropping 3.20 rand, or 1.9 percent, to 168.60 rand.
Lonmin Plc (LON) , the third-largest platinum producer, slid 2.94 rand, or 2 percent, to 148 rand, the lowest intraday level since July 2009.
Harmony Gold Mining Co. Ltd. (HAR SJ), Africa’s third- largest producer of the metal, fell the most in more than a week, losing 1.64 rand, or 1.8 percent, to 87.60 rand. Gold fell for the first day in seven.
Massmart Holdings Ltd. (MSM) , the South African retailer controlled by Wal-Mart Stores Inc., fell for a fourth day, losing 1.20 rand, or 0.9 percent, to 140.30 rand. Massmart plans to buy The Fruitspot as part of its strategy to expand its fresh food offerings, said spokesman Brian Leroni.
SacOil Holding Ltd. (SCL) , an oil and gas explorer, fell for a third day, losing 6 cents, or 7.6 percent, to 73 cents. Oil declined for a third day in New York as investors bet that Europe’s spreading debt crisis will curb demand for raw materials before a report likely to show rising U.S. fuel stockpiles.
Sasol Ltd. (SOL) , the world’s largest maker of motor fuel from coal, fell for a third day, dropping 5.88 rand, or 1.7 percent, to 348.11 rand, the lowest since June 28.
