MW: Gold modestly higher; oil loses for third day

By Claudia Assis
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Crude-oil futures looked poised for a third day of losses on Tuesday, pressured by a higher dollar and ongoing concerns about the health of the U.S. and world economy. Crude for August delivery declined 58 cents, or 0.6%, to $95.58 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold futures, however, got a small upswing from the worries about euro-zone debt and could settle higher for a sixth day. Gold for August GC1Q +0.10% added $1.60, or 0.1%, to $1,550.90 an ounce on the Comex division of the Nymex.
