MUMBAI: The rupee rose on Thursday tracking gains in the euro and Asian currencies, but slight weakness in local shares limited the rise.
* Traders said sentiment was largely unaffected by the explosions in Mumbai late on Wednesday where three bombs rocked crowded districts of the financial capital, killing at least 17 people.
* At 9:18 a.m., the partially convertible rupee was at 44.4575/4600, stronger from last close of 44.52/53.
* The euro was $1.4210 versus $1.4081 at close of local forex market on Wednesday, while the index of the dollar
against six major currencies was down 0.41 percent at 74.898 points. It had been at 75.606 when the domestic currency market closed on Wednesday.
* The local benchmark share index was down nearly 0.3 percent.
