MW: Oil prices rise more than $1; set for weekly gain

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Crude-oil futures climbed Friday, recouping some of the losses they suffered a day earlier and poised to finish the week higher. Prices found support as U.S. stocks got a boost from strong corporate earnings, despite disappointing manufacturing data. August crude CL1Q +1.32% tacked on $1.19, or 1.2%, to $96.88 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The Empire State manufacturing index remained below zero for the second-straight month in July, while a separate report showed that industrial production rose less than expected in June.
