PR:Pan American Metals of Miami says Silver is Also an Attractive Investment

(1888PressRelease) July 20, 2011 - MIAMI, FL - While skyrocketing gold prices may have dominated the headlines, silver should not be neglected as an investment vehicle. Last year silver made greater gains than gold, percentage wise, and is currently holding at around $40 an ounce. Over 50% of the demand for silver comes from industry, making it more susceptible to changes in the economy than gold. At present, silver is also attracting a considerable amount of investor interest; its relative affordability makes it accessible to smaller investors, with bullion and coins being the most popular choice, particularly if safety is the main concern.

precious metals, gold, palladium and platinum, silver should be an essential component of any investor's portfolio. Silver, like gold, has been used for over six millennia and also provides insurance against inflation or deflation. Silver's cheaper price provides an excellent entry point into the precious metals market.

"Silver has the highest electrical conductivity of any element, making it highly desirable in the electrical industry," says Bill Hionas of Pan American Metals of Miami. "It is also used as a catalyst in chemical reactions and in high-end audio equipment. While demand is high, deposits of silver are becoming increasingly rare."

As is the case with gold, silver will hold its value in the event of any collapse in paper currencies. Increased demand and limited supply combine to make it an attractive purchase for the discerning investor. Bullion is the traditional way to invest in silver and silver bars are available in sizes as small as one ounce. Pan American Metals of Miami offers its clients positions in silver, as well as gold, palladium and platinum.
