NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Energy stocks traded across the board on Tuesday, with shares of petroleum producers down while natural gas producers and oil service firms rose, as Weatherford International WFT +7.38% rallied 8.2%. Checking the major energy sector gauges, the NYSE Arca Oil Index XX:XOI -0.64% fell 0.4% to 1,336. The NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index XX:XNG -0.26% rose 0.1% to 710. The Philadelphia Oil Service Index OSX +0.84% rose 0.7%. National Oilwell Varco NOV +2.02% rose 4%. Occidental Petroleum OXY -1.58% dipped 1.2%. Valero Energy Corp. VLO -4.42% dropped 2.9%.
