MW:Dollar skids vs. euro, hits 4-month low vs. yen

TOKYO (MarketWatch) -- The dollar fell to a fresh four-month low against the Japanese yen and dropped against the euro Friday, after the U.S. House Republican leadership late Thursday cancelled plans to vote on a plan to lift the U.S. debt ceiling ahead of the Aug. 2 deadline. The dollar was buying ¥77.60, down from ¥77.77 in late Thursday's U.S. trading. It fell as low as ¥77.46 earlier, its lowest level since its all-time record nadir of ¥76.25 was hit on March 17. The euro was buying $1.4325, up from $1.4313 late Thursday.
