The price of oil on world commodity exchanges was falling Friday morning as U.S. congressmen battled over the U.S. debt.
The price of a September futures contract for WTI light sweet crude in electronic trading on Nymex was down 50 cents to $96.94 a barrel by 7:00 Moscow time. The price of a September futures contract for North Sea Brent blend was off 4 cents to $117.32 in London.
The day before, September WTI contracts fell 4 cents to $97.44 a barrel, while September Brent contracts declined 7 cents to $117.36.
