ET: Big rise in silver and copper output almost triples revenues for Scorpio
BANGALORE (Reuters) -
Canada's Scorpio Mining Corp reported a quarterly profit helped by higher production from its flagship Nuestra Senora mine in Mexico.
Vancouver-based Scorpio, reported a net income of C$3.3 million, or 2 Canadian cents a share, compared with a loss of C$1.2 million, or 1 Canadian cent a share, a year ago.
Revenue for the quarter ended June 30, nearly tripled to C$17.6 million.
Recovered silver was up 95 percent at 365,692 ounces, while recovered copper rose 17 percent to 438,529 pounds at the Nuestra Senora mine.
Shares of Scorpio Mining closed at C$1.80 on Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
