BLBG:Dollar Extends Gains Versus Yen as Obama Says Leaders Reach Debt Agreement
The dollar extended gains versus the yen and the Swiss franc after President Barack Obama said leaders of both parties in the U.S. House and Senate had reached an agreement to raise the nation’s debt ceiling and cut the federal deficit.
The dollar climbed to 77.77 yen as of 9:44 a.m. in Tokyo, from 76.76 on July 29, and rose to 79.33 Swiss centimes from 78.55. It traded at $1.4377 per euro from $1.4398.
