SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Gold and crude-oil futures advanced on Wednesday, with the yellow metal looking to extend its record run. Gold for December delivery GC1Z +1.74% added $31.40, or 1.8%, to $1,774.30 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Oil for September delivery CL1U +1.87% added $1.34, or 1.7%, to $80.62 a barrel on the Nymex. Oil got close from recouping losses of 2.5% the previous session and investors awaited from inventories data later Wednesday. Also on tap for investors are reports on job openings and wholesale inventories.
