NN:Indian Currency Makes Recovery Vs. U.S. Dollar In Morning Trade

The Indian currency, which dropped to a five-and-a-half month low during Thursday's trade, made recovery of 8 paise to trade at Rs 45.33 as compared to the US currency during morning trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange today, encouraged by a advanced opening in the stock market and euro gains overseas.

But, continued demand for the US currency from importers restricted the rupee's increase.

The Indian unit declined 16 paise to mark its closure at a five-and-a-half month low of Rs 45.41/42 versus the dollar during the earlier session because of continued dollar demand from importers and feeble scrips.

Forex traders stated that a positive opening in the securities market and the euro's rebound abroad primarily backed up the Indian rupee recovery, but continued dollar demand from importers limited the increase.

The 30-share index BSE Sensex gained 187.48 points, or 1.10 per cent, to trade at 17,246.88 during opening trade today.
