MB:Area gas prices down by 4.7 cents a gallon

Local motorists continue to benefit from stable gasoline supplies and recently declining oil prices.
Monday's weekly report by SactoGasPrices. com, a GasBuddy. com website, said the average price of gas in the Sacramento area fell 4.7 cents to $3.66 a gallon over the past week.
The current local average is still 53.3 cents per gallon higher than it was one year ago but 4.6 cents lower than last month.

It was the second straight week of cheaper gas; the average local price fell 2.1 cents the previous week.
The national average price also fell 4.7 cents over the past week, settling at $3.60 a gallon.
Crude oil prices, which plunged to their lowest level of the year last week, rallied Monday on the New York Mercantile Exchange as international stock markets stabilized. Benchmark crude for September delivery rose $2.50 to settle at $87.88 per barrel.
Analysts noted that sustained increases in the price of crude likely will push gas prices higher, but most analysts predicted relatively modest at-the-pump cost increases in the run-up to Labor Day weekend.
