BLBG:Mauritius Rupee Appreciates for a Second Day Against the Dollar Q
 
Mauritius’s rupee appreciated for a second day against the dollar and increased for the first time in a week versus the euro.
The currency added 0.4 percent to 28.6 per dollar by 12:34 p.m. in Port Louis, the capital. Against the euro, the currency of its main trading partners, it gained 1.1 percent to 39.1676, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
Europe is the Indian Ocean island nation’s largest buyer of goods and the biggest source of tourists, according to the Central Statistics Office. The euro accounts for 41 percent of the country’s foreign-currency earnings, according to the central bank.
Buying prices for the dollar ranged from 27.7068 to 27.8782 and the selling price rose to 29.206 compared with 29.0994 on Sept. 16, according to exchange rates published today on the Bank of Mauritius website.
