WSJ:Tokyo Shares End Higher As Exporters Offset Commodity Fallout

TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Tokyo stocks rose on Thursday as strength in the euro helped select heavyweight technology shares such as Kyocera, Canon and TDK offset losses among commodities-related stocks, including shippers and steelmakers.
The Nikkei Stock Average rose 85.58 points, or 1.0%, to 8701.23 following the previous day's more modest 0.1% rise.
