WSJ:Key US Dollar, Sterling Libor Rise; Euro Rate Unchanged
LONDON (Dow Jones)--The cost of borrowing dollars and sterling for three months in the London interbank market rose Wednesday, while the corresponding euro rate was unchanged.
Data from the British Bankers' Association showed the three-month dollar London Interbank Offered Rate, or Libor, rose to 0.38361% from 0.38094%.
The spread between the three-month dollar Libor and the three-month overnight index swap rate--a barometer of banks' willingness to lend--widened to 29.5 basis points from 29.1 basis points Tuesday.
Credit Agricole SA contributed the highest rate of 0.4425%, followed by BNP Paribas SA, which contributed a rate of 0.43%.
The euro rate was unchanged at 1.49750%, while the three-month sterling rate rose to 0.95938% from 0.95688% Tuesday.
