MW: Gold futures edge lower, but hold above $1,650

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Gold futures edged lower Tuesday with strength in the U.S. dollar prompting the metal to give back some of the previous session's gains as traders awaited a vote in Slovakia on changes to the euro zone's rescue fund. Gold for December delivery GC1Z -0.05% fell $3.70 to $1,667.10 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Prices had gained $35 on Monday. Other metals futures fell, with December copper HG1Z -3.16% down 3.2% and December silver SI1Z +0.16% losing 0.3%.
