RTRS:S.Africa's rand gains over 1 percent vs dollar
JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa's rand gained more than 1 percent on the dollar in early trade on Thursday as emerging markets received a boost from headway made by European officials to resolve the region's debt crisis.
The rand was up 1.35 percent to 7.8575 to the dollar by 0545 GMT. It closed at 7.9651 in the New York session on Wednesday.
