RTTN: Dollar Down Ahead Of US Weekly Jobless Claims, Non-farm Productivity Data
(RTTNews) - The Labor Department is due to release its customary jobless claims report for the week ended October 29th at 8:30 AM ET. Economists expect claims to have slipped to 400,000 from the 402,000 reported for the previous week.
The U.S. Labor Department is also scheduled to release its preliminary third quarter non-farm productivity and unit labor costs at 8:30 AM. Economists expect productivity to have increased by 2.5 percent, while unit labor costs is expected to have edged down by 0.7 percent.
The US dollar traded lower against most of its major rivals ahead of the data. As of 8:25 am ET, the greenback was trading at a 2-day low of 1.3822 against the euro and 0.8787 against the Swiss franc. The greenback also reached as low as 1.6030 against the pound and steadied around 78.0 against the yen.
