MW: Chicago Fed index edges up slightly in October

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The Chicago Fed on Monday said its national activity index edged up to a reading of -0.13 in October from an upwardly revised -0.20 in September. The weighted gauge of 85 different economic indicators is designed so that a positive index reading corresponds to growth above trend and a negative index reading corresponds to growth below trend.
