BLBG:Euro Advances After Report of IMF Italy Loan Plan; Aussie, Kiwi Strengthen Q
The euro climbed after a report in La Stampa that the International Monetary Fund is preparing a 600-billion euro ($794 billion) loan for Italy in case the country’s debt crisis worsens. The Italian daily didn’t say where it got the information.
The 17-nation currency jumped to $1.3333 as of 7:56 a.m. in Sydney from $1.3239 in New York on Nov. 25. The Australian dollar strengthened to 98.19 U.S. cents from 97.11 cents, while the New Zealand dollar rose to 75.02 U.S. cents from 74.05 cents.
