RTTN:Euro Slightly Higher Against Dollar In Quiet Year-end Trading
(RTTNews) - The euro was slightly firmer against the U.S. dollar in quiet trading on Tuesday, with many investors on the sidelines ahead of London's public holiday.
The euro's slight gain against the dollar came after it declined in the European session on Friday amid lingering concerns about the region's sovereign debt crisis. But the euro-dollar pair traded sideways in Friday's New York deals and on Monday too as many traders stayed away from the currency market due to Christmas holidays.
The euro rose to 1.3078 against the dollar in today's Asian trading and this was up 0.3 percent from Friday's European session close of 1.3038.
Looking ahead, the euro-dollar pair is likely to be influenced this week by Italy's bond auction.
