ET:Copper futures decline on weak global cues

NEW DELHI: Tracking a weak trend in global markets, copper prices fell by Rs 3.30 to Rs 400.15 per kg in futures trade today as speculators offloaded their positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April fell by Rs 3.30, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 400.15 per kg, with an open interest for 1,420 lots.

In a similar fashion, the metal for delivery in February declined by Rs 3.25, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 396.30 per kg in 13,953 lots.

Market analysts attributed the fall in copper futures prices to a weakening global trend.

Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery fell by 1.50 per cent to USD 7,390 per metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
