II:Base Metals Remain Lackluster Trading In Thin Volumes At MCX
 
Base metals remained silent on Monday as the New Year 2012 extended holiday mood conspired with the closure of overseas market such as LME and Comex weighed on the sentiment. The investor's major focus for this week will be on ongoing events in the Europe and major economic data from the US. Very thin trading was seen at domestic bourses MCX.
The dollar index edged up by 0.04% at 80.27 against the basket of 6 major currencies during the mid day. Dollar index gained 2.4% during the last month December 2011.
At MCX, Copper for delivery in February was trading flat at Rs. 406.15 per kg. Nickel for delivery in December tested an intraday high of Rs. 994.4 per kg and low of Rs. 990.6 per kg and is now trading at Rs. 992.3 per kg, down 0.1% or Rs. 1.1. Zinc was trading flat at Rs. 98.5 per kg. Aluminium was trading flat at Rs. 106.9 per kg and MCX lead was also trading flat at Rs. 107.7 per kg.
