RTRS:Kenya cbank sells dollar after shilling slides
NAIROBI Jan 5 (Reuters) - Kenya's central bank sold an unspecified amount of dollars to commercial banks on Thursday to stem a steep fall in the shilling currency against the dollar, traders said.
The shilling has lost as much as 4.8 percent against the dollar this week, to touch a three-week low of 89.00/20 earlier during Thursday's session, weighed on by heavy dollar demand as importers return from the holidays.
Central bank has also been mopping up liquidity through repurchase agreements.
