NEW DELHI: Copper prices fell by 0.88 per cent in futures trade today as speculators offloaded positions after it slipped to over three-week low at the London Metal Exchange.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February fell by Rs 3.65, or 0.88 per cent, to Rs 411.85 per kg, with a turnover of 2,626 lots.
In a similar fashion, the metal for delivery in April declined by Rs 3.45, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 418.25 per kg in 357 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures prices to a weakening global trend after a decision on a second bailout for Greece was postponed.
Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery fell by 1.30 per cent to over three-week low of USD 8,265 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange in early trade today.
