ET:Base metals up on higher global cues
 
NEW DELHI: Base metals prices rose by up to Rs 3 per kg in the local non-ferrous metal market today largely on account of a firming global trend.

Also, increased demand from consuming industries also influenced the base metal prices here.

Trading sentiment turned better after copper climbed in London on speculation that US manufacturing report will add to evidence of economic growth.

Meanwhile, copper rose by 0.7 per cent at USD 8,500.50 and nickel by 2.1 per cent to USD 18,190 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel (4x4) rose by Rs 3 each to Rs 390 and Rs 1,065-1,067 per kg, respectively.

Zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported were also traded higher by Rs 2 each to Rs 114-120, Rs 130 and Rs 128 per kg, respectively.

The following are metal rates per kg: Zinc ingot 114-120, nickel plate (4x4) 1,065-1,067, gun metal scrap 226, bell metal scrap 228, copper mixed scrap 390, chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 130, lead imported 128, aluminium ingots 123, sheet cutting 125, aluminium wire scrap 129 and aluminium utensils scrap 124.
