MW: Correct: Dollar gains, Treasurys up after data

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The dollar extended gains slightly and Treasury prices briefly spiked a bit on Thursday after a report showed U.S. initial jobless claims slipped to 357,000 in the latest week. Yields on 10-year notes 10_YEAR -2.70% which move inversely to prices, fell 7 basis points to 2.16%, after briefly dipping to 2.14%. The dollar index DXY +0.42% , which measures the greenback's performance against a basket of six currencies, rose to 80.108, from 79.985 before the data and 79.764 late in North American trade Wednesday. The euro EURUSD -0.68% fell to $1.3045, from $1.3077 prior to the report and $1.3139 Wednesday.
