ET:Nickel futures marginally up on spot demand, global cues
Nickel futures today moved up marginally by 50 paise to Rs 936.70 per kg on the back of pick-up in spot demand amid a firming trend in base metals overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the April month contract of nickel rose by 50 paise, or 0.02 per cent, to Rs 936.70 per kg, clocking a turnover of 1,360 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in May was trading higher by 30 paise, or 0.01 per cent, at Rs 947 per kg, with a trading volume of 72 lots.
Meanwhile, nickel traded a shade higher at USD 18,099 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange (LME).
Analysts said besides pick-up in domestic demand from alloy-makers, a firming trend in copper and other base metals at the LME supported the rise in nickel futures here.
