MW: Gold fluctuates between small gains and losses

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Gold futures swerved between small gains and losses as they struggled for direction ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve's interest-rate decision and Chairman Ben Bernanke's press conference. Gold for June delivery GCM2 +0.05% added 20 cents to $1,643.80 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Most metals held to gains as Apple Inc. AAPL +9.40% is expected to buoy equity markets following better-than-expected earnings.
