WSJ:Indian Rupee Plunges On Risk Aversion

BY KHUSHITA VASANT

MUMBAI—The Indian rupee fell at a frantic pace Tuesday, continuing to find new all-time lows as risk sentiment took a beating after Fitch cut Japan's sovereign rating earlier in the day.

The rupee slid to 55.39 against the U.S. dollar, compared with 55.03 at Monday's close. The greenback was last quoting at INR55.34.

Currency dealers said there was no sign of the Reserve Bank of India intervening to break the rupee's fall.
