ET:Crude oil futures marginally up on global cues

NEW DELHI: Crude oil futures rose by 0.44 per cent to Rs 5,076 per barrel today as speculators enlarged their positions following a firming global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in June rose by Rs 22, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 5,076 per barrel, with an open interest of 4,693 lots.

Similarly, the oil for the July delivery moved up by Rs 21, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 5,118 per barrel, with an open interest of 354 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in crude futures to a firming trend in Asian trade as major crude producer Iran and Western powers failed to reach agreement over Tehran's nuclear programme.

Meanwhile, crude oil for delivery in July advanced by 84 cents to USD 91.70 a barrel in morning trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
