FRANKFURT (MarketWatch) -- The unemployment rate in the 17-nation euro zone held steady at 11% in April, while the total number of unemployed in the region rose by 110,000 to a euro-era record of 17.405 million, the European Union statistics agency, Eurostat, reported Friday. Economists sureveyed by Dow Jones Newswires had forecast an unemployment rate of 11%. The highest unemployment rates was recorded in Spain at 24.3%, while the lowest rate was in Austria at 3.9%.
